Ahead of the release of his new album Popfly, available October 23, 2026 via Suicide Squeeze Records, Michael Nau shares “New Slack.” On the single, Michael Nau shares: “The earliest memory I have of this song is playing it in the tailgate of benny’s volvo – benny on bass, & oliver playing sax. benny would send me that phone memo a lot over the next couple years. it only made sense to record it for this album. (oliver sax, benny bass).”

On Popfly, many songs began at home, growing in meaning, before he entered the Vermont studio, Little Jamaica, with longtime friend and collaborator Benny Yurco, many of them had already lived several lives. “Studio recording feels like covering my own songs,” Nau says.

Family and friendship are deeply woven throughout the record. Nau’s children contribute vocals, bringing warmth and spontaneity to the album’s communal spirit, with longtime collaborator and wife Whitney McGraw lending her serene voice.
