Mysterious LA producer Shines announces EP

Mysterious LA producer Shines announces debut EP, shares remix of UK ambient pop trio White Royal's "False Widow" 'Shines EP' out 8/5/14 on Color Station

LA producer Shines, aka Jafar Jahanshahi, crafted the tracks on his self-titled debut EP Shines in complete privacy over a span of nearly a year. Set for release August 5th via fledgling BK/LA label Color Station, the Shines EP is inherently personal and equally unpredictable- for example, the stunning sonic landscape of the EP’s intro, a loud high pitched flickering that screams “I’ve arrived” melts into the layered downtempo gem “Heartstrung.” Warm synths, intuitive sound imaging and captured noises of the Neighbourhood via field recordings all help to create the absorbing soundscapes. Today, Shines has released a remix of under the radar UK ambient pop trio White Royal‘s “False Widow” in anticipation of his upcoming EP.

The “False Widow” remix is a haunting dance rework of the track, which was released earlier this year. All the existing elements- gentle guitar strums, warm piano chords, light cymbal work- have been chopped up, moved around and mixed with Shines’ signature sound movement to build toward the song’s several moments of catharsis.

Shines EP will be released August 5th, 2014 via Color Station.
