So Much Light streams “Idiot Soul” EP

So Much Light (aka Damien Verrett) streams his entire "Idiot Soul" EP

Anti- Records has signed soulful young singer-songwriter and guitar virtuoso, So Much Light (aka Damien Verrett) with the release of a FREE five-song EP entitled Idiot Soul. The EP, featuring four original tracks and an acoustic retelling of Drake’s “Connect”.

So Much Light unites the electronic indie charms of Toro Y Moi and Flume with the influences of Neyo and The Weeknd. Damien Verrett — the 24-year-old singer/songwriter behind So Much Light — proves through his writing that you can craft intentionally complex, prog-rock structures with R&B elements. By combining soul with thoughtfully-arranged production and textures, the Sacramento native has expanded the boundaries of conventional genres. Part observational poet, emotive melodist, sound designer and detail-oriented perfectionist.

Each song on Idiot Soul is crafted using manipulated acoustic instruments. Marimbas, vibraphones and pianos, as well as vocal samples, lift the production beyond the tired synth patches commonly used in electronic pop.
