Moses Sumney debuts remix of “Hey Girl”

Moses Sumney shares a new version of “Hey Girl” from his critically acclaimed 2024 EP Sophcore. His first musical offering of 2025, “Hey Girl(s)” features contributions from acclaimed singer Syd and musician and poet Meshell Ndegeocello. Together, the artists build on the sensual foundation of “Hey Girl” and perfectly complement Moses’ songwriting and vocal range.
Fresh off her second consecutive Grammy win for Best Alternative Jazz Album this Sunday, Ndegeocello shared, “I was excited when Moses thought of me for this song because I love his voice, it’s just otherworldly, and this song spoke to me because of the way he pushes a romantic narrative into the future. It was a pleasure to get a glimpse into his process and an honor to be part of it.” This past August, Moses released Sophcore, his first body of original music since his double album græ in 2020. The EP features the previously released singles “Vintage” and “Gold Coast.”
The new single follows the announcement of Sumney’s casting in Public Theater’s TWELFTH NIGHT as Feste. He will be joining Lupita Ny’ongo, Sandra Oh, Peter Dinklage, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, among others. Directed by Tony-award nominee Saheem Ali, the production will run from August 7th through September 14th.
