Australian band Middle Kids have shared “Terrible News” the latest track from their forthcoming album Faith Crisis Pt 1, set for release on February 16 via Lucky Number. The album was Produced by Jonathan Gilmore (The 1975, beabadoobee), “Terrible News” is a confessional guitar laden track penned by lead vocalist Hannah Joy in an insecure time during the pandemic.

“There was a lot of confusion and information and rules and anger and people judging people and loss and distrust. I eventually felt so overwhelmed by all the noise, I couldn’t take it anymore.” explains Joy. “The guitars are kinda shouty too or maybe just urgent. I wanted to stack a lot of guitar layers to create almost a guitar choir. We got a friend Brendan Champion to play some brass on it which really elevates the song as it marches along.”

“Terrible News” follows the release of recent singles “Bend”, “Dramamine”, “Bootleg Firecracker” and “Highlands”, which along with the rest of the album were recorded in Eastbourne, UK in late 2022 and co-produced by Jonathon Gilmore and Tim Fitz.

2017 saw Middle Kids release their debut single, “Edge Of Town” and their debut album, Lost Friends, which won Triple J’s Best Australian Album Award in 2018. The success of their albums, lead to tours with the likes of Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, War on Drugs and Cold War Kids. Middle Kids have recently completed a 29-date tour of North America with Manchester Orchestra and Jimmy Eat World.
