Sydney Minsky Sargeant has released new single, “Long Roads.” The track is off the singer/songwriter’s forthcoming debut solo album Lunga, available September 12th via Domino Records. Minsky Sargeant says of “Long Roads”: “I don’t want to sound all hippy dippy, but this album helped me realise it’s ok to love and say that within a song because it’s a true and honest feeling and one that I’m not embarrassed to admit or accept. But it’s also ok to say I got some stuff wrong and I’m no perfect person. I’m just living each day trying to make sense of the world around me.” “Long Roads” is accompanied by a video directed by Nick Griffiths / &SON

Minsky Sargeant has played Glastonbury stages, toured the UK and Europe, appeared on Later with Jools Holland and fans, include musicians Atticus Ross (NIN), Cabaret Voltaire’s Stephen Mallinder and Confidence Man for his critically acclaimed albums as Working Men’s Club. Last month LCD Soundsystem handpicked Working Men’s Club to support them at 4 of their 8 dates as part of their Brixton Academy residency.

Lunga was written over a period of years, beginning when Minsky Sargeant (who usually goes by Syd) was a teenager growing up in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. The record was co-produced by Syd alongside long-time collaborator Alex Greaves and plays most of the instruments on the record. It’s very easy to forget that he is still just 23 years old.
