The new EP, recorded with Mark Roberts at Echo Zoo in Eastbourne, Sussex will be out on June 5 via Hit The North Records. The band will announce additional live shows imminently.
daresay is comprised of George McCanna (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Harvey Fenny (lead guitar), Aoibhín Clarke (vocals, rhythm guitar) and Thomas Pargeter (vocals, bass guitar). daresay, based out of Sussex, have spent years in and around each other’s lives, collaborating on projects throughout their teens and early twenties, the four-piece have now come together in a new form with daresay. Drawing on a lineage of open, literate indie songwriting, the band’s sound carries touches of The Dismemberment Plan, The Districts and Frightened Rabbit, arriving with a sense of weight, melancholy and restraint.
McCanna reflects on his own experience with depression, exploring feelings of disorientation, disconnection and doubt – themes that surface throughout the forthcoming debut EP. At its core, however, “little things” reaffirms the idea that life’s most meaningful moments are often found in the smallest, most unexpected places.
Speaking about “little things”, McCanna says: “”little things” is about my journey with depression, feeling on the edge of society and connection. Looking at the big picture of life can feel disorientating, but truly life happens in little moments. ‘little things’ is about remembering that.”
