Kristeen Young To Release New LP ‘The Knife’

Kristeen Young To Release New LP 'The Knife' co-produced by Tony Visconti. Kristeen Young with open for Morissey on select dates. She starts her tour May 13

Kristeen Young, the “aggressively adventurous”  New York keyboardist, songwriter and vocalist, was handpicked by Morrissey to open 26 concerts in May, the same month she releases her new album, ‘The Knife Shift,’ co-produced by the legendary Tony Visconti (David Bowie ‘The Next Day’) and featuring Dave Grohl, who plays drums on the entire album and guitar on five songs. Young headlines NYC’s Bowery Electric every Wednesday in April with a full band. ‘The Knife Shift’ will be released on May 13.

Morrissey has become enamored of Young and the two have developed an on-going show partnership with Young opening for him on several tours since 2006. In his recent best selling autobiography, Morrissey wrote: “Everything about this singer is new. The solid fixity of her presentation is as striking as having a safe drop on your head from a tenth-floor window.”

‘The Knife Shift’ follows the release of Young’s ‘V the Volcanic’ EP. Her previous album, ‘Music for Strippers, Hookers, & the Odd On-Looker’.
