Julia Holter has shared “Materia 2”, the track is off the artist’s forthcoming album Materia, out August 21 via Domino Records. Stemming from “Materia,” a song off Holter’s 2024 album Something In The Room She Moves, “Materia 2” is described as a hallucinatory dream of drum machine, fretless bass (Devra Hoff), and clarinet (Chris Speed), with Holter’s voice spiraling through the ether alongside that of experimental vocalist and composer Jessika Kenney.

To celebrate the album’s release, Holter has announced a Los Angeles album playback at In Sheep’s Clothing HQ in West Hollywood on Thursday, August 20. The event, presented by KCRW, will feature a playback of Materia in full as well as a Q&A with Holter and KCRW’s Director of Music Content Alejandro Cohen. Ticket proceeds from the event will go to the Immigrant Defenders Law Center.
