Epitaph recording artist’s Joyce Manor, have announced Songs From Northern Torrance, a collection of early material that offers a glimpse into the band’s beginnings as an acoustic two-piece. Originally recorded between 2008-2010. The newly remastered tracks will be available on streaming services this Friday, May 29 and on vinyl September 18.

Ahead of the album’s release, the band have shared “House Warning Party.” The song, described as a a one-minute blast of upbeat suburban angst. “A lot of early Joyce Manor songs are actually leftovers from earlier bands, but ‘House Warning Party‘ was the first song I wrote specifically for Joyce Manor,” explains vocalist Barry Johnson. “I was working at the Long Beach Aquarium and the first line of the song came to me while I was perusing the vending machine on my break. They had some LifeSavers and on the packaging it said ‘five flavors’ and the opening line of the song just popped in my head. The rest of the lyrics came effortlessly and the song was fully written in about the time it takes to listen to. Listening to it ten years later it sounds young and inspired and I’m impressed at how much of a story I was able to tell in just over a minute.”

ABOUT JOYCE MANOR
Joyce Manor is a band from Torrance, CA consisting of Barry Johnson (vocals/guitar), Chase Knobbe (guitar), Matt Ebert (bass), and Kurt Walcher (drums). Johnson and Knobbe started the band in 2008 in the Disneyland parking lot while sharing a bottle of cheap booze. Named after an apartment complex that Johnson would walk past every day, Joyce Manor made their debut as an acoustic two-piece. Quickly they learned that playing loud was much more fun and invited friends to join the lineup. The band has since released five studio albums; Joyce Manor (2011), Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired (2012), Never Hungover Again (2014), Cody (2016), and Million Dollars to Kill Me (2018). Joyce Manor has toured extensively and has made festival appearances at FYF Fest, Coachella, Riot Fest, and others.
