Jamaican Queens Debut ‘Wellfleet Outro’

Jamaican Queens Debut New 'Wellfleet Outro' Video. Jamaican Queens' Debut Album Wormfood will Be Released on Limited Edition 12" Vinyl through Bandcamp.

Detroit duo Jamaican Queens has debuted a new video for their single ‘Wellfleet Outro. Directed by The Right Brothers, who also shot the band’s first video, ‘Kids Get Away,’ the single features a remix from Helado Negro (MTV Hive), and is taken from their debut, Wormfood, which will be available on limited edition 12″ vinyl starting on Tuesday, February 11th.

‘Wellfleet Outro’ is the latest in a series of videos from Wormfood, including ‘Can’t Say No To Annie,’ ‘Caitlin,’ ‘Water,‘ and ‘Kids Get Away.‘ The band toured behind their debut for the greater part of 2013, performing with Houses, Javelin and Dustin Wong, among others, including dates at SXSW and CMJ. They made their European touring debut in November, and will return overseas for a run of dates in Spring 2014.

The partnership of Jamaican Queens’ Ryan Spencer and producer Adam Pressley was conceived in late 2011. Pressley moved to Detroit to join Spencer in his former band Prussia, and shortly after his arrival the group dissolved. The two decided they worked better as a pair and spent that winter writing and recording Wormfood, which was mixed by High Bias Recordings engineer, Christopher Lazlo Koltay (Akron/Family, Dirtbombs). The fusion of Spencer’s melodies and Pressley’s knowledge of underground music and production gave birth to their unique “odd pop” sound. Influenced by the southern rap beats of Three 6 Mafia, Gucci Mane, and Young Jeezy, as well as the experimentation of Brian Eno and Lee Scratch Perry.
