“It’s Always You” by Strange Lot
Strange Lot have shared a new track and music video for “It’s Always You.” The Austin, Texas band melds a psychedelic sound with swirling shoegaze guitar, heavy garage percussion. The track is inspired by the sounds of the Thee Oh Sees, Dungen, and more to create their own Texas indie rock sound. Earlier this year, ahead of a ripping Levitation Fest set and fresh from supporting The Boogarins throughout Texas.
The music video for “It’s Always You” takes all sound into consideration, as the visual effects — made by Tachyons+, the mind behind Tame Impala’s live visuals and the glitch effects for the latest Alien film.
Strange Lot’s debut album includes collaborators The Black Angels’ Alex Maas, mixing from Spoon’s Jim Eno, and Howie Weinberg who’s worked with Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana and many more.
The band began as the bedroom project of singer/guitarist Dominic Mena in Phoenix before moving to Austin in 2019. The band has grown into the present lineup of Dominic Mena, Tim Lormor, bass guitarist Nate Hahn, and Jordan Fitzpatrick on synthesizer and guitar. They’ve opened for The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus and Mary Chain, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Kikagaku Moyo.
