“It’s A Vision” by Immaterialize

Immaterialize, includes Lipsticism (aka Alana Schachtel) and DJ Immaterial (aka Erik Fure). Today, the Chicago band have announced their signing to Angel Tapes/Fire Talk Records, (Jawdropped, shower curtain, Retail Drugs and more). Along with the news, they have shared their new single/video, “It’s A Vision.” After a decade of performing and collaborating together, Immaterialize emerged in 2024 with a distinct and otherworldly vision. “It’s a Vision” marks Immaterialize’s return after more than a year of writing and recording their debut collection.

As its title suggests, “It’s A Vision” began as a dream of Schachtel’s, and the phantasmic nature of its origin extends across the track’s haunted, reverb-drenched production. Recalling the Danish dreamscapes of ML Buch and Snuggle, Immaterialize is anchored by an authentically American abjection. “It’s a vision that I’ve had before,” Fure opens the track by musing, “It’s a dream I don’t want anymore.” The melody stretches atop ethereal guitars, with Fure’s gauzy vocals guiding “It’s A Vision” along its cathartic journey.

“The knife twist of hope, delusion, and denial after a loved one passes away,” Fure says of “It’s A Vision.” “Mistakenly thinking you see them, dreaming they’re actually still here, hoping there’s some sort of indication that their spirit or consciousness persists and can be present in our lives.”
