Interpol today announce their new album This Mirror Weighs a Ton, the LP is their first in four years and debut for Partisan Records, arriving August 28. Ahead of the LP’s announcement, the band share the two opening tracks, the title track and “See Out Loud.”

Earlier this year, Interpol also appeared at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where they previewed material from the new album including “See Out Loud” and “Wings on Fire.” Next month, the band will begin a 23-date North American headline tour, stops include a hometown festival appearance at CBGB Festival Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn, The Salt Shed Fairgrounds in Chicago. Select dates will feature support from Youth Lagoon, Loathe, julie, DIIV and French Police, with the band also set to support SOMBR in Vancouver.

The LP was Produced by Andrew Wyatt (ROSALÍA, Charli xcx) and mixed by David Fridmann (Sleater-Kinney, MGMT). The album was recorded at Wyatt’s studio on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, marking the band’s first time making a record in their original home base in over a decade.

The album’s title emerged from Paul Banks’ improvisational vocal process, where melodies and phrases develop simultaneously. Themes of reflection, perception and emotional tension recur throughout the record, and the artwork features a work by Addie Wagenknecht currently held in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s permanent collection.
