“I Feel Fine” by Reptaliens

Captured Tracks recording artists, Reptaliens have shared a new video for “I Feel Fine,” the second single off their forthcoming release Multiverse, which drops on January 22, 2022. The label exclusive first pressing comes with branded rolling papers, a nod to the fact that the band members’ day job is working on an Oregon weed farm. They have also just announced their first ever headlining US tour which launches Jan. 24 in Salt Lake City and features openers Yot Club and Renata Zeiguer.

“‘Who says the undead can’t also live happily ever after? There’s a sweetness, but also a feeling of restlessness and maybe even ennui in the lyrics and tone of “I Feel Fine,” and while this was no doubt probably inspired by covid lockdown, listening to it made me think of a teenage girl, with the agitation, repression, and sweetness of that age. Bambi’s cynical and bored on-screen character was partially inspired by the character Wren in the 1982 Susan Seidelman film Smithereens. For this video, I wanted her character to feel like she was stuck in a small town that she was Too Cool for, looking for something new, more exciting. The “something more” she finds is love in a graveyard with an infatuated ghost. I used analog video to juxtapose the afterlife scenes with the digital HD footage of present day life. We shot the video in San Luis Obispo with Dylan Travis, who was living there at the time. Dylan also stars in the video as the Lynchian, sleazy drunk driver who takes Bambi to her untimely end. RIP Love.” – Laura Callier, video director
