“Homesick” By Elissa Mielke

Singer/songwriter Elissa Mielke has released a new video for “Homesick.” The track is off the artist’s EP Finally, now available via slashie/Mom + Pop. Mielke’s vocal stylings are influenced by fellow artists from The Mcgarrigle sisters, Jane Siberry and Joni Mitchell. If you sense a pattern, like Elissa Mielke, all those female singers are Canadian, and whose voices could melt the hearts of the toughest souls out there.

Mielke’s music is both a reflection of her upbringing in a religious family in rural Canada and a rebellion against limitations set by those same surroundings. Musically, she is inspired by a deep love for songwriting, and storytelling. After traveling the world as a model and leaning into the Toronto music scene, Mielke arrived in Los Angeles in 2019. In the wake of the pandemic, Mielke has done digital performances for Sundance Film Festival’s Speakeasy: Sound & Vision, the Mercury Lounge in NYC, Schuba’s in Chicago, School Night At Home in Los Angeles and The Drake in Toronto. She also recently appeared on Spotify’s 10 Songs That Made Me music + talk show, where she highlighted 8 artists and songs that were fundamental in her artistic process.
