Constant Smiles has shared a new video for “Gold Like Water,” a track off the group’s forthcoming album Kenneth Anger, which drops on March 3rd, 2023 via Sacred Bones (Boy Harsher, John Carpenter), the album release release will coincide with a run March Tour Dates leading into SXSW.

“Gold Like Water” was written about the intense feelings of panic attacks, spirals and spin outs, but also about feeling grateful for the people in your life who can help pull you out. The soothing double vocal performance by Jones and Taia and the rich cello accompaniment by Nicky Wetherall become their own medicine. The release of “Gold Like Water” comes with a video the band directed, featuring members Ben Jones and Taia in a color-drenched, superimposed visual tribute to the album’s namesake.

Ben Jones shares: “This video is an homage to Kenneth Anger and to my favorite film of his, ‘Puce Moment.’ The song and the video are very personal to me and deal with how I can dissociate from the world and feel like I am watching life happen instead of experiencing it. But the song and video also deal with how the rituals I do can serve as tools to get me through that.”

“Gold Like Water” follows January’s “ In My Heart ” which accompanied the album’s announcement with a beautiful black and white video filmed on Martha’s Vineyard, directed by Samuel Jerome Mason (who has performed with Constant Smiles and done videos for Mac Miller, Future Islands, Sofi Tukker among many others). Upon its release, “In My Heart” caught the attention of Austin Town Hall (who noted how the song “ blends with the album’s themes of ritual and community and collaboration as a process of healing ” ).
