“Glitter & Gloss” by Skott

After debuting her new single “Glitter & Gloss” to widespread critical acclaim last month, Skott returns with a sweeping and cinematic visual accompaniment — her first ever official music video — directed by Zhang + Knight.

Shot over two days in Ukraine, the video for “Glitter & Gloss” offers up some truly breathtaking scenery—rolling snow-covered hills, frosty plains, dense powder-white forests and vast lakes of ice glistening in the sun. This chilly setting, providing the perfect visual complement for Skott’s icy and ethereal single, her haunting vocals sparkling against a backdrop of shimmering synths, menacing percussion and hazy, incandescent production.

As her first release of 2017, “Glitter & Gloss” follows previous singles, “Lack of Emotion,” “Amelia,” “Wolf” and her debut single from last summer, “Porcelain”. Skott is slated to make her U.S. live debut this Spring, with confirmed appearances at SXSW in Austin, followed by one-off shows in both Los Angeles and New York City.

Skott spent her early years in a forest commune run by a collection of outcast folk musicians. Together they built a small but supportive community, quite far from the nearest populated city. There, surrounded by nature she thrived, learning to appreciate life without all the distractions associated with living in a city. Largely sequestered from contemporary pop culture, it wasn’t until Skott ventured into the city during her mid-teens that she listened to contemporary music for the first time.
