Girl Ultra has officially announced her forthcoming album, RRRomeo, will drop on October 9th on Big Dada. Co-produced with Chromeo,  and includes collaborations with Buscabulla, Empress Of, Jean Tonique, and Chromeo themselves. Ahead of the album’s new, Girl Ultra has shared, new single “Denisse”, which is accompanied by a music video, depicting Girl Ultra on a flying carpet navigating a series of dreamlike cityscapes and landscapes.

Speaking more on the single, Girl Ultra says, “At its core, ‘Denisse’ is a message of letting go and flying away from something that you don’t want with the quiet hope of seeing your childhood best friend again years later, and exchanging the weight of adult life. I think everyone has a Denisse, someone who remains suspended in memory forever.

I wanted to reconnect with that kind of storytelling: cinematic, deeply visual, and soaked in nostalgia. ‘Denisse’ lives inside nostalgia, not just lyrically, but sonically.That instinct feels central to how I understand Girl Ultra, genre-fluid, emotionally restless, always shifting shape while holding onto feeling. The song left us with something unexpectedly tender by the end of the process.

We shot the video in Mexico City with the incredible team at Violeta Films. While writing the treatment, I kept returning to one surreal image: myself flying on a carpet above my grandmother’s queen-size bed. It felt dreamlike, strange, intimate, somewhere between memory and fantasy. So we brought that vision to life exactly as I imagined it.”

Long before RRRomeo took shape, Girl Ultra was a music-obsessed teenager absorbing Mexico City’s nightlife, radio culture and deep nostalgia for past sounds. Immersed in a city where dance floors became classrooms and genres coexisted without hierarchy, she grew up with Latin Rock and 80s pop anthems on the radio while saving money to experience live acts like Chromeo and Bloc Party.

Girl Ultra and Dave 1 became internet friends sometime around 2017. At the time, she was emerging from the SoundCloud R&B wave, building a reputation as one of Mexico’s most exciting young voices. The two began discussing a collaboration, which finally came together during the pandemic. “We had so much time on our hands,” Dave recalls. “I was in the space where I wanted to start collaborating with more up-and-coming artists. We were just like, ‘Yo, let’s do a project together.’”
