At the end of 2018 New York City artist Gawn AKA: Zach Koenig, built a new practice space. He would spend all his spare time arranging new tracks. The end result was his forthcoming release Thee Essence Ov Everything, which is due out on August 14th. Ahead of the album’s release, we are treated to the LP’S single “Pushed Aside.” Before Covid hit, the band was playing up and down the East Coast. Hopefully, along with “Pushed Aside,” we will be able to hear more of Gawn’s wonderful Pavement-era inspired Westing (By Musket and Sextant) tunes.

Zach Koenig on “Pushed Aside:”

“the lyrics are kind of all over the place with Pushed Aside but mainly it’s about moving on Toxic friendships and figuring out who you really are without them. And finding actual happiness with yourself when you do. It’s a love song, but about loving yourself and the friends who truly love you back.”
