Oakwood have dropped new single “Fields Behind the House,” the track is off their forthcoming album Blurred Away, available May 29 Will Yip’s Memory Music.

Singer/songwriter’s Mathew Dwyer’s lyrics offer a challenging sort of solace as he repeats the same question throughout: “does this ever get better? or is it permanent?” Oakwood purposefully leave that unanswered, as the very thought captures the idea that grief isn’t something we can ever get rid of; we have to carry it with us forever.

Blurred Away was recorded with Phil Odom (Glare, Militarie Gun, Durry) and mastered by Will Yip (Turnstile, Title Fight). The album is partially inspired by the music of Title Fight, Jets to Brazil and more.

The Austin based musician, Oakwood has spent the last 10+ years navigating the road between youthful jam sessions, backyard DIY gigs, and the realities of adulthood. Now, over a decade since their first release, the West Texas trio of Dwyer, Noah Roots (drums), and TJ James (guitar/bass).
