“Fell Ass Backwards” by Hudson Freeman

Hudson Freeman has announced his new album Doom Country, will drop on November 6th via Mom + Pop out, ahead of the the LP’s arrival, he is sharing the single, “Fell Ass Backwards.”Born in Waxahachie, Texas to Evangelical missionaries, Freeman started writing songs upon a radical break at the age of thirteen when his family suddenly moved from the suburbs of Dallas to The Kingdom of Eswatini. A crucial college stint in Missouri led him to New York City, where he’s now making a home for himself and his wife, Sophia. During this time period, Bon Iver and The National, as well as his college years spent in Springfield, had a profound influence, ultimately leading to 2025’s is a Folk Artist.

“If You Know Me,” a track from is a Folk Artist, led to shows at Luck Reunion, Pickathon, Newport Folk Fest, End of the Road Festival, opening slots for Mumford & Sons and Foxwarren, plus sold-out headline shows around the globe. this month, Hudson will support Jesse Welles across North America. He’ll play a record release show at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on Fri. Nov. 6th, with a EU/UK tour following.

Doom Country finds Freeman digging deeper into the sounds he’s most excited by, using them to spend time with the ideas that he’s most curious to understand, with a band who has found and forged the heart of these songs on the road together, a team of collaborators willing to experiment sonically and live left of center. “Doom Country is my personal, post–apocalyptic road trip album through America in the vein of Illinois, Nebraska, and Ghosts of the Great Highway,” says Hudson. “Sonically, it’s a reference to the genre play of lofi sludge with folk and americana as much as it is about American apocalypticism and having grown up Evangelical while now living through the weird end times feelings of the 2020s.”
