Father John Misty has scheduled the first round of 2017 North American tour dates in support of Pure Comedy, his forthcoming third album. Tillman wrote the majority of Pure Comedy throughout 2015 and recorded all the basic tracking and vocals live to tape at United Studios (formerly the legendary Ocean Way Studios, favoured by Frank Sinatra and The Beach Boys) in Los Angeles March 2016.

The new headlining dates include Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre (May 5th and 6th), Brooklyn’s King Theatre (May 10th), Chicago Theatre (May 15th), The Paramount in Seattle (May 24th), Vancouver’s Festival Lawn at Deer Lake Park (May 26th), and Mexico City’s Metropolitan Theatre (June 7th). Father John Misty’s spring & summer international festival schedule includes 6 Music Festival in Glasgow (March 26th), Coachella (April 14th & 21st), Form Arcosanti in Mayer, AZ (May 13th), Piknik I Parken in Oslo (June 22nd – June 24th), Fuji Rock (July 28th – July 30th), Montreal’s Osheaga (August 4th – August 6th), and a headlining performance at End of the Road Festival in Dorset, UK (August 31st-September 3rd).

Pure Comedy was co-produced once again by Josh Tillman and long-time producer Jonathan Wilson; mixed by Tillman, Wilson and Trevor Spencer, and mastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering Studios. The album features string, horn and choral arrangements from classical iconoclast Gavin Bryars (Jesus Blood Never Failed Me Yet, Sinking Of The Titanic), with additional contributions from Nico Muhly and Thomas Bartlett.

Father John Misty will also be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live this coming Saturday, March 4th 2017.
