FANS Share Music Video for ‘Born Into’

UK trio FANS share video for 'Born Into'. Also announce tour dates.
Commenting on the new track, frontman Dan Louch said: “We’ve had this song a long time, it was written well over a year ago so it feels good to be getting it out there finally. It’s seems to have grown in relevance since we first wrote it which is weird as some of the lyrics are pretty autobiographical, especially the first two verses. The song idea came about from stories my mum had told me about her childhood, loads of funny Steptoe & Son kind of stuff – like they didn’t have duvets and used to have to sleep under my granddad’s coat in winter.”

With the band’s debut EP due out later this summer, the band went onto speak about their first official body of work: “It’s a real, honest and raw record – both lyrically and in the way it’s recorded and produced live. Everything has pretty much seemed to tie itself together in an organic way.”
The video for ‘Born Into’ was also very much a DIY project, filmed by the band’s friend – “we got the idea from Alejandro Gonzalez’s film Birdman, where the whole film is just one continuous camera shot with no cuts or edits.”The EP, produced and recorded by Matt Peel (Eagulls, Pulled Apart By Horses) is built upon a foundation of 90’s indie rock influences, fusing together to create something new, yet memorable.Speaking on the premise behind the new EP the band have said “the record is basically based around the idea that social mobility is an illusion, that what circumstances you’re ‘Born Into’, 90% of the time is where you’ll end up. A feeling that people who are poor, aren’t valued and have no real control or voice. It is literally becoming a crime to be poor which is fucking mental, and if you happen to be in that situation then it seems like human life ceases to have any value.”
