Erykah Badu and The Alchemist release an NTS live session, directed by Yasser Abubeker, of new material from their co-produced collaborative album Before The World Blows.

The session drops ahead of their joint Abi + Alan headline tour, kicking off on September 10 2026 at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park. The 14-stop tour takes them across North America, with a new date added at Toyota Music Factory in Dallas on November 1, 2026.

Before The World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment dropped on August 28 via Control FREAQ Records / Young. The LP was Co-produced and recorded over 18 months in Dallas and Los Angeles.

Fans were initially invited to abiandalan.com, where a series of clues revealed the location and an RSVP link. That night, in the courtyard of Alvaro Barrington’s studio in East London, Erykah Badu and The Alchemist performed alongside Badu’s digital collective, The Cannabinoids, running through a carefully curated set of new material – including “Echos”, “I Just Play A Part (feat. DJ Creole Princess, Westside Gunn, Joi)” and “Witch Doctor” – and reworked fan favourites, with a special guest appearance from DJ Creole Princess, all in an intimate, phone-free setting.

The session adds to a month-long run of activity around the release. Cryptic posters with the phrase “One More…” appeared across Sydney, Melbourne, London, Paris, Dallas and New York City, each carrying a code directing fans to b-t-w-b.com to decipher clues revealing the album’s title. “Witch Doctor” arrived with a Badu-directed music video, premiered via a special one-off screening alongside an iconic prequel, the 2010 video for “Window Seat.” Last week, Badu opened the Badu Burner Phone, an interactive challenge inviting fans to unlock a phone number; callers who gave the decoded album title as a passphrase were in with a chance to connect with Badu via FaceTime, with select participants asked to complete the phrase “One Mo ______ Before the World Blows,” taken from the album’s accompanying poem, “BTWB.”
