Five takeaways from the Ed Banger Records’ 20th Anniversary

As the music industry continues to evolve and change, one label has remained steadfast in its dedication to bringing the world the finest electronic music for two decades. Ed Banger Records, the Parisian record label that has been home to a veritable who’s who of electro superstars, celebrated its 20th anniversary in style with a massive bash at London’s legendary Printworks on Saturday night.

1. Justice raised the roof to another level

The festivities were kicked off with a rare appearance by none other than Justice, the iconic duo who have been pushing the boundaries of electronic music for over a decade. In a set that spanned the gamut from hardcore techno to classic Justice tracks, the crowd was taken on a musical journey that left them breathless and begging for more.

2. Uffie made a brief, but very rare appearance

But Justice wasn’t the only act that had the crowd buzzing – Uffie, the elusive chanteuse who has only made a handful of live appearances in the past fifteen years, was also on hand to lend her unique vocal stylings to the mix. In a set that saw her collaborating with Ed Banger legend Busy P, Uffie brought down the house with a mix of classic tracks and new material that left the crowd screaming for more.

3. Ed Banger influences were featured heavily

Of course, no Ed Banger party would be complete without a nod to the label’s rich history and influence on the electronic music scene. From Daft Punk to Soulwax to Chemical Brothers, the acts that have been inspired by Ed Banger over the years were prominently featured throughout the night, serving as a reminder of the label’s lasting impact on the music world.

4. The curators are keeping one eye on the future

But the party wasn’t just about celebrating the past – it was also about looking to the future. In addition to the old-school Ed Banger acts like Breakbot, Busy P, Myd and Justice, the organizers made sure to include up-and-coming talent like Vegyn and the new duo Braxe & Falcon, who wowed the crowd with their blend of house and disco.

5. London nightlife will be a lot poorer without Printworks

Sadly, the night was bittersweet, as it marked the final season for the beloved Printworks club, which will soon be converted into offices and a hotel. As the lights came up and the crowd dispersed, it was impossible not to feel a sense of loss for this unique clubbing destination, and a reminder that even the best things in life can’t last forever.
