“Early Morning Rain” By Le Ren Ft: Buck Meek

Le Ren AKA: Montreal-based musician Lauren Spear, has shared a cover of “Early Morning Rain” – the 1966 folk classic by Gordon Lightfoot. The track features Big Thief guitarist and solo artist Buck Meek, who recently released his new album Two Saviours via Keeled Scales.

Spear notes: “To me, this song encapsulates missing someone. As many people are separated right now, it felt like the right moment to cover it. Buck and I recorded it in two different countries across time and space so in turn, the production reflects the song itself.”

Last year, Le Ren released the EP Morning & Melancholia, her debut for Royal Mountain Records and Secretly Canadian, which featured the single “Love Can’t Be The Only Reason To Stay”. Following the release, in October 2020, she released the single “It’s Time I Played a Love Song” b/w “I Did U Wrong” via Sub Pop’s Singles Club.

“Early Morning Rain” is out now on Royal Mountain Records. It is available HERE
