“Doves Cry” Ice Cream

Ice Cream, recently releasd the video for their current single “Dove’s Cry.” The track is off their forthcoming release FED UP, due out on November 15th. The video, a shopping fantasy, in which a liquid soap can produce self-love,” explains Ice Cream’s Carlyn Bezic. The fluorescent ballad captures the lovely, complex melancholy of indulging in the quick fixes of contemporary “self-care,” even when you know “you can’t find self-love through self-loathing.”

The product of years of collaboration between Amanda Crist (US Girls, Darlene Shrugg) and Carlyn Bezic (Slim Twig, Darlene Shrugg), Ice Cream began as a spare “molecular pop” project – but since their 2016 debut, Love, Ice Cream, the band’s sound has evolved into something far more lush and layered. In their hometown of Toronto, Ice Cream are known for conducting irresistible dance parties with supernatural confidence. With their forthcoming album, FED UP, they’ve both captured and expanded on the qualities that make their live shows so electrifying – creating a vibrant and vibrating sonic world where shuddering beats, gorgeously catchy melodies and heavy rock-and-roll riffs fit puzzle-piece perfect into lyrics about the pressures of living under late capitalism and the male gaze.
