Django Django return with their third full-length album, Marble Skies, on January 26th via Ribbon Music. It’s described as a concise and focused album that recalls their dynamic, genre-blurring debut and its handmade, cut-and-paste approach. Now Django Django are sharing more of their vibrant energy with “In Your Beat” and its accompanying video. Joyously upbeat with an ominous undercurrent, “In Your Beat” embraces the more dance-oriented side of the band. It opens with pitch-shifted vintage synth sounds and evolves into a twisted ‘80s electro pop number.

The accompany video was directed by SKG (Sophie Koko-Gate) with art direction from Brodie Kaman. In a kaleidoscopic explosion of color, the video touches upon a range of pop art influences, from punk collages to Richard Hamilton’s anarchic invention and Jan Švankmajer’s avant-garde animation. The imagery is all playfully synchronized to match the song’s insistent beat. Maclean comments “I found Brodie’s work online and was a big fan of his graphic style and his influences from rave flyers and DIY punk aesthetics. I had the idea that we could make his posters into a video and bring them to life. He was into the idea so we brought Sophie on board to animate his mocked up posters and bring the band into his 2D poster world.”
