Day Wave is back with with new single, “As You Are.” The track is now available via Play It Again Sam, and follows Day Wave’s 2022 release, Pastlife which featured KennyHoopla and more.

Speaking about the new track, Phillips says: “It’s about a relationship unravelling, and the moment you realize that neither person is willing to change to make it work. The song took a while to fully come to fruition. I had been playing the chord progression over and over again for months before I actually wrote the song over it.”

The new music is a welcome return from one of dream-pop’s pioneering names and an excellent addition to his swelling body of work which typically explores themes of love, loss, and maneuvering life in your 30’s. Alongside releasing his own music, the Los Angeles-based artist has become a go-to collaborator for emerging artists including the likes of Sea Lemon, Hana Vu, Saba and Hazel English, the latter of which Day Wave collaborated with on a cover of Interpol’s “PDA”
