“Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR)” by Laura Pieri

Brazillian experimental pop artist Laura Pieri released a new remix, “Daughter of Demeter (ON THE DANCEFLOOR).” The track was originally released last year as a dark pop song in her EP Frankie, but now it has a latin club twist. “This remix is what happens when that fire simmers into something slower, sharper, and slyer,” Pieri shares. “The fury isn’t gone. There’s a defiance in turning pain into pleasure, and that’s what this version does: it lounges in heartbreak with style. It’s rage on vacation.”
Pieri plans on remixing all her songs from the Frankie EP, reinterpreting some of its themes of feminitity, identity, and power into a danceable, electronic-based language. “It made me rethink how we process and present emotion, especially feminine emotion,” she reflects. “Sometimes healing looks like dancing. Sometimes grief shows up in a slow sway.” Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR) was written by a small, all-female team, and it is executive produced by fellow NYC-based pop artist, Skyler Cocco. One can also listen to the “ON THE DANCEFLOOR” remix of “Sea of Tragedy.”
