“We are hugely honoured to be releasing our debut album on Monkeytown. As long term supporters of our work, it feels like a very natural fit for the record given how our sound has evolved during the writing process over the last 2 years.

In terms of influences there are too many to mention, but our constant search for records to play on NTS Radio has definitely been a big factor in helping us gather new ideas and inspiration. Writing the album was also heavily influenced by how we were going to interpret it in a live scenario, which is how we will be touring the album in the very near future…

We’re thrilled to finally share this album with everyone and are very grateful to do so with Monkeytown” (Dark Sky)

Matt Benyayer, Thomas Edwards and Carlo Anderson together make up the London based production trio Dark Sky. Having met at college, Dark Sky formed in 2009 out of a mutual love for the ever evolving London electronic music scene, a love that the trio have always reflected through not only their DJ sets but also their productions.

Fast forward five years, the London based trio have repeatedly toured the globe, remixed the likes of The xx and Maya Jane Coles via Bombay Bicycle Club and Kelis and have released music with Mister Saturday Night, 50WEAPONS, Black Acre, Tectonic, Pictures Music and Ninja Tune.

August 2014 will see the release of Dark Sky’s long awaited debut album on parent label of the aforementioned 50WEAPONS, Monkeytown Records. Founded by Modeselektor’s Gernot and Szarzy, the globe trotting duo have been long term Dark Sky supporters, and subsequently their label forms the perfect home for Dark Sky’s percussion driven, soul laced debut album. With plans formulating for a full live show tour and plenty more to reveal in the mean time, 2014 is set to be a big year for Dark Sky.
