Dan Deacon returns to the Ecstatic Music Festival after last year’s sold-out show, this time writing a series of new works for acclaimed chamber groups NOW Ensemble (“a deft young group gaining attention,” New Yorker) and the Calder Quartet (“outstanding,” New York Times), both for the individual ensembles and for the two together in a mini-chamber orchestra. Also featured on the program will be new work for disklavier player piano. The pieces will be performed in 3 section of one large piece: ‘An Opal Toad With Obsidian Eyes.’Domino recently announced the world-wide signing of Dan Deacon to the label. Deacon
is currently working on his debut release for the label, a full-length album due sometime in 2012.

Dan Deacon has spent the past year performing in more non-traditional settings and arrangements, often collaborating with pals So Percussion and other musicians. He was also invited by Francis Ford Coppola to score his latest film, Twixt. Last year also saw the re-release of Deacon’s entire catalog in different formats by Carpark Records.
