Daisy the Great has announced the deluxe version of their album The Rubber Teeth Talk With Friends, the LP will drop on July 17. The album features reimagined versions by Frankie Cosmos, Harmony Tividad (Girlpool), Ray Bull, Alexis Krauss (Sleigh Bells), Babehoven and more. Lead single “Dog” (Frankie Cosmos Version) offers an introspective new take on Daisy the Great’s ode to summertime dissociation, with Greta Kline joining Mina Walker and Kelley Dugan.

Speaking on their version, Frankie Cosmos shares: “We spent four days together re-arranging and recording ‘Dog’ from scratch, with my friend Nate Mendelsohn engineering and mixing. It was so fun to hang out with Kelley and Mina and sing and play together, and get to know each other. It felt like we were on tour together, and by the last day I didn’t want it to end! They were super game to try new things and have the song turn out different from the original. I was psyched that they were willing to entirely switch their vocal parts; I loved hearing them basically flip registers to bring the song a new vibe. I also was thrilled that we got to include a bit of their famed vocal hocketing on the bridge – what an absolute treasure to watch them work it out in real life, brilliantly re-writing the section to be better suited to a hocket, and performing it with incredible ease.”

“”Dog” is a song about walking around New York City on a bad day feeling completely stuck in your head and finding solace in funny little uncanny physical representations of your misery,” share Daisy the Great. “We reached out to Greta (Frankie Cosmos) to do a version of this song because she’s also from New York City (like Kelley) and her music plays with similar themes. We knew immediately it would be the perfect pairing. This version really feels full of the joy that went into making it.”

“We gave each contributing artist the reins,” share the duo. “It’s been fun to let go of the songs and allow others to make their own interpretations. To highlight a different side of the meaning of each song.”

Take the downcast yet driving “Lemon Seeds,” which chronicles the dissolution of a friendship, transformed by Brooklyn duo Ray Bull into a piano-grounded indie-pop anthem. Harmony Tividad, one half of the indie band Girlpool, leans further into the dreamy textures of “Dream Song,” now a lullaby of gently plucked guitars and three-part harmonies. Grunge-adjacent track “Ballerina” finds new life in Sipper’s pulsing electronic textures, and features vocals from Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss.
