Cuco has announced, his new album Fantasy Gateway, will drop o July 22, 2022. Ahead of the release, the artist has shared the lead single/video “Caution.” Fantasy Gateway is the follow-up to his 2019 album Para Mí.

“Caution,” which arrives with animated visuals created by Grin Machine following Cuco’s journey within. The 12 track project opens a new chapter for Cuco and includes features from Kacey Musgraves and Adriel Favela. Cuco shares about the meaning behind the single, “‘Caution’ is a song that talks about going through different mental health issues and not wanting to bombard the people around you with your problems, so you just keep them to yourself, but sometimes putting all that weight on yourself results in a feeling of being out of control when everything explodes.”

Along with Fantasy Gateway’s announcement, Cuco shares his upcoming summer 2022 tour dates. After performances at Primavera in Spain and Viva Festival in Los Angeles this June, Cuco will embark on his North American headline tour beginning in Phoenix on August 14th with stops in Boston, Brooklyn and Atlanta before wrapping up with a show in Dallas on September 2nd.

From a fairly early stage, Cuco’s songs seemed to connect with audiences online, his earnest bedroom pop aesthetic and evident talent resonating for obvious reasons. Home-recorded and shared via services like Bandcamp and SoundCloud, self-released projects like 2016’s Wannabewithu and 2018’s Chiquito EP mixed relatable and catchy works in English and Spanish, endearing Cuco to other first-generation Latin Americans and young fans of indie singer-songwriters. Untethered to genre constraints, he experimented with styles and sounds, incorporating mariachi and R&B, psychedelia and rap, as well as other forms into his diverse palette as he sought fit. Much to his delight, the play counts on his tracks went from the thousands into the hundreds of thousands, prompting him to bring his music into the live setting more and more often, playing to growing crowds on tour and in festival settings. “It’ll always be surreal to me,” he says. “I never take it for granted if I see so many people at one show, you know, I don’t know the next day that I’m gonna see that again; it’s always appreciated.”
