“Crooked Tooth” buy Little Junior

Toronto band Little Junior have released a video for, “Crooked Tooth”, the track is off their just released debut album Hi produced by John Agnello (Land Of Talk, Dinosaur Jr, Alvvays, Kurt Vile), coming out today on Royal Mountain Records.

“With the type of bratty pop punk that sounds like it belongs on the CD soundtrack to American Pie, Royal Mountain’s latest four-piece are masters of the early aughts,” noted Exclaim in their album review.
Of Crooked Tooth, lead singer/guitarist Rane Elliott-Armstrong said, “My boyfriend was bugging me to write a song about him, and we both have janky teeth, so I wrote a song about loving someone for their imperfections. Sorry babe!”

From guitarist Rane Elliott-Armstrong:

“I think it’s important to have a lot of different viewpoints in music,” says Rane. “I think it’s important we can bring a viewpoint that people who aren’t just like straight people can identify with.

Hi is described as a mix of Pixies’ lo-fi basement punk with Weezer and Jepsen’s penchant for cheery sing-along melody. Though unapologetically upbeat, the album’s sunny tone is subverted by Little Junior’s petulant lyrics. Most of the songs, Rane admits, have a sardonic side and tend to be written in response to people who’ve “wronged” him. But not all of the band’s tracks are disparaging—the bass-led “Crooked Tooth” is a heartfelt love song Rane wrote for his boyfriend. “Not caring about standards of beauty. It’s about body positivity. At the crux of it, it’s vital to Little Junior that they help create a space for all music fans, regardless of background or identity.
