Courtney Barnett has released a brand new song. “Small Talk” is an unreleased track from the sessions which eventually led to her current release, Tell Me How You Really Feel. The song itself shows Courtney’s stylistic versatility as she winsomely sings over a walking bass-line before launching into joyful a series of ramshackle jams and choruses.

“Small Talk” is being released as part of Barnett’s North American label’s 10th anniversary compilation. Mom+Pop Music will also be taking over Brooklyn Steel on Monday, October 22nd to mark the occasion.

Last month, Barnett released a cover of Elyse Weinberg’s “Houses” as part of her Spotify Singles Sessions. Since then, Barnett has sat down with Spotify as part of their Undercover podcast to discuss the story behind the cover- speaking to what the song means to her, why covers are interesting and what it’s like to record in a studio.
