Common Deer debut video for "Mistakes"
Common Deer

Common Deer formed while in school in Guelph, Ontario. The quintet features the harmonies of Graham McLaughlin (guitar, violin, vox) and Sheila Hart-Owens (keyboards, vox), with Sheila’s brother Adam Hart-Owens (guitar, cello, synths), and brothers Liam Farrell (drums) Connor Farrell (bass). Graham had been writing pop songs since age 11 and through numerous sonic experiments and a shared love of Stars the group developed their sound, eventually working with producer Laurence Currie (Wintersleep, Hey Rosetta!) to release EP I, released in January. The record was followed by a second set of five-songs, II, in September recorded with Gus Van Go (Arkells, The Stills). The vinyl, which combines to make EP 1 side A and EP II side B, landed in November 2017.

Today sees the release of Common Deers’ brand new video “Mistakes”. The clip was filmed live at YouTube studios in Toronto. The band play this year’s Junofest in Vancouver, BC, followed by stops in Calgary, Chicago, Hamilton, and more.

The band talks about “Mistakes”

“Performing “Mistakes” live is always cathartic. It’s a very personal track about mental illness, specifically depression and anxiety in our current climate, and we hope that others can find the same release listening as we do playing it.”
