Coach Party have announced their debut album Killjoy, which is set for release on September 8th, 2023 via Chess Club Records. The record is highlighted by their brand new single ‘All I Wanna Do Is Hate’, an eruption of energy that serves as a sign of things to come from the group’s self-produced 10-track project. Colliding riotous punk elements with fuck-the-world irreverence and flairs of sparkling electro-pop, the song finds the Isle of Wight foursome not just arriving at the party, but kicking down the door and turning the speakers up to ten.

“All I Wanna Do Is Hate is about acting out against people who are trying to help, but you’re not ready for that and choose to do the opposite of the advice you’re given,” says Coach Party figurehead Jess Eastwood. “This song is just about being incredibly angry, for what, is up to whoever is listening; but sometimes you need to go against everyone to learn a valuable lesson. Maybe you’ll write a cool angry song about it.”

Coach Party grew up on the Isle of Wight and eventually crossed paths as avid music fans – working in venues, playing together and meeting at the same gigs. The band eventually formed after Jess and guitarist Steph Norris decided to start playing music together; quickly realising that there was something special about the pair’s songwriting and bond, guitarist Joe Perry and drummer Guy Page soon joined the ranks. Musically, Coach Party are inspired by a broad palate of artists, but always find themselves drawn back to Nirvana, Sonic Youth and The Strokes, and contemporary artists like Wolf Alice, The Big Moon and Tame Impala. Ultimately though, Coach Party’s primary drive to write and perform music comes from “the often entertaining struggle of real life.”
