Chukwu is Toby Ekpunobi, NYC underground rapper, producer, and instrumentalist. His debut LP, Process, is described as old-school grit and lo-fi exotica samples brought to life with refreshingly raw production. Melodic themes draw from obsessive crate-digging of Nigerian High-Life, Brazilian, and Afro-Caribbean musics. Process</em is due out October 27th, via Veriditas Recordings. Ahead of the release, Chukwu has given fans another taste of the album, with the second single “Free.”

Chukwu’s live band includes Sweet Joseph (Lemon Twigs, Goodfight) and Andres Valbuena (Lemon Twigs). Chukwu plays a special show on September 29th in Queens, NY. Tickets available here.
