Christine and the Queens – I finally see you (translation)
Forgive them, they know not what they have done
I plunged my hands in the path’s soil
Forgive them, they know not where they’re going anymore
She was waiting by the stream to speak with me
Within their soul dies something other at once *
They have the tears and the rose petals
I said
I said
I believe they have suffered too much
And London shall remain!
We had gathered in less than a second
Oh father, I think they have sinned
I plunged my hands in the path’s soil
In your books it is impossible not to sin!
She was waiting by the stream to speak with me
We who know how to read, we who learned to please you!
Forgive us my lord we were surrounded
I remember young animal I was running so far
Into the forest to look for my path
I was lost but counted only the present
The sun that pierced through the leaves of amber and mint and I see
Oh I see my wife **
The same story since the race of souls
Animal or fish, you haven’t changed
It would seem that I have looked for you forever
My love rhymes with always,
always!
And the choices are made
And the choices are being made
One foot before the other
And second after second…
Child, child
I see you as a child!
Oh my love here you are I finally see you!
At last, at last
I finally see you
Oh my love here you are I finally see you
* this is an attempt at a poetic translation since the original line in French has no “clear” meaning in the sense that it’s a sort of poetic collage
** original word in French is “femme” which can mean both wife and woman, my first reflex was to translate to wife, but maybe it means to be ambiguous and it can be understood as “woman”
