Chief Scout Releases First Single “Run Away”

Chief Scout Releases First Single "Run Away" which comes out on October 28th

Today Chief Scout, aka 20-year-old songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Trey Rosenkampff  debuts his first track, “Run Away from Home.” A song that veers from wildly shambolic verses, blistering solos, and towering choruses. The song will be available as a part of Chief Scout’s debut “Run Away From Home” Single, set for release on October 28th on Columbia Records. Next month, Chief Scout will make its East Coast debut at CMJ in New York. Stay tuned for official dates, to be announced shortly.

Hailing from Suwanee, GA just outside of Atlanta, Trey Rosenkampff has been writing music all of his life. A young talent, Trey spent his high-school years playing guitar and honing his songwriting chops. His music received early nods from James Petralli of White Denim, who invited him to record with him in Austin after seeing Trey play. Along the way, he was picked up by longtime friends The Weeks as their touring guitarist.

With his friends at college and feeling alone for the first time, Trey gave himself completely to his music, pushing himself to work outside of comfort zone. “Lyrically, my music came from what I was feeling and thinking at the time. It was the first real moment that I realized that I wasn’t in a consistent group. Everyone was adapting to a new life.”

Throughout 2013, he worked on new music with Petralli and his longtime collaborator, Jim Vollentine (White Denim, Spoon, White Rabbits, Alberta Cross). As a group they created songs that are fast and aggressive, wrapped in psych rock textures, all the while filtering in the twang and jangle of a songwriter born in the south. The end result was a collection of songs like “Run Away From Home” that envelop the listener in the erratic whirlwind that is Trey Rosenkampff’s mind.
