Chelsea Wolfe Premieres New Video

Chelsea Wolfe Premieres New Video for "The Waves Have Come" Chelsea Wolfe starts her European Tour Tomorrow in Barcelos, Her LP 'Pain Is Beauty' is now out

Chelsea Wolfe has shared the second video from 2013’s  record, Pain Is Beauty, the nearly eight minute clip for “The Waves Have Come.” An excerpt from the long-format film she co-wrote with director Mark Pellington, Lone, the video for “The Waves Have Come”  premiered today.

The video takes on an emotionally charged, visceral barrage of imagery, and Chelsea explains:

“Most of this video is footage from the first time Mark and I shot together – he had built this dark room full of green ivy and it was just me, the dress from the album cover, a few lights, and him. It was the first time I realized what a director really is. Suddenly he was shouting, guiding me with instructions, emotions, telling me to act as if everything I was singing about – disaster and the loss of life and love – that it was all inside of me and at the same time to act as an observer of these things. He cut it together with found footage of families, intense nature and destruction and created this cathartic journey through it all.”

The concept behind Lone was birthed out of a mutual desire between Wolfe and Pellington to expand upon the concept of a classic music video. What began as an idea for a nine minute short film extended into what is now just under an hour-long piece, with Pellington fleshing out the concept surrounding Chelsea’s lyrics and music. A nonlinear film, Lone takes its dialogue solely from lyrics off Pain is Beauty and explores many of the themes and ideas behind the record. Lone is currently available on USB for purchase and will be available digitally everywhere on August 26th.
