BOYO is the project of 20 year-old Robert Tilden, former singer/songwriter in L.A. cult garage-band Bobby T. and the Slackers. BOYO was born out of the gradual dissolution of “Bobby T. and the Slackers,” a project that Tilden had started at age 16. “Alright” comes off BOYO’S forthcoming release Control, out August 26th via Danger Collective Records.

“Bobby T.” had seen local success after playing raucous sets throughout LA’s D.I.Y. and warehouse circuit with a live lineup featuring Sanam Tiffany (Danger Collective artist “Salmon”) and Cleo Tucker (of Girlpool). Tilden then released a homemade demo-tape in late 2012, getting the project opening slots for bands such as Cherry Glazerr, Girlpool, La Femme, and the DMAs.

Control, the forthcoming debut album from BOYO, was recorded almost entirely by Tilden himself, with former Bobby T. drummer Ruben Radlauer pitching in on drums and co-production duties. The record’s songs document a turbulent time in Tilden’s life, detailing his struggles with drug addiction & substance abuse, anxiety issues and the destruction of close personal relationships.
