“Blue Lie” by JULSEY

After the recent announcement of her new LP Flip the Bed, dropping on October 17 2025 via Strong Place Music, Brooklyn artist Julsey shares a video for album track “Blue Lie”.

Raised in an intensely creative household — her father a film composer, her mother a voice teacher — JULESY grew up surrounded by instruments and self-expression. “I’m not really trying to write about my life,” she says. “I’m writing through it — as a way to make sense of what I can’t say any other way.”

On the track, JULESY shares:

“”Blue Lie” is maybe one of the oldest songs on this album. It came at the beginning of the end of a big relationship, before I realized it was ending. I was really self-critical and felt like I didn’t know who I was anymore. I was listening to a lot of Rocket-era Alex G and early Radiohead, and I think that grittiness came through in the song. What really brought it together was the outro — when we added that break with the drum machine. Since the lyrics are so honest and pretty sad, both Sahil and I wanted to contrast that with lighter, almost playful production. The ‘la la las’ and twangy guitar line in the chorus were our way of balancing the heaviness.”

With influences ranging from Imogen Heap and They Might Be Giants to Alex G, JULESY’s debut explores the emotional spaces many artists leave untouched. Flip the Bed promises to be a bold, genre-blurring introduction to a young artist unafraid to be fully in-process — messy, honest, and magnetic.
