Baroness talk about Grammy nomination

Baroness get a grammy nomination for their single "Shock Me".

“What a surreal morning it has been. I was wakened at 5 a.m. by a massive influx of messages and emails, after 2 days without sleep, on tour in New Zealand and Australia to find out ‘Shock Me’ has been nominated for a GRAMMY. I’m astounded that this happened, and psyched to see that our friends in Gojira are present on the list as well. It’s been an overwhelming year, touring this record, and I’m extremely proud of my friends/bandmates and the whole Baroness family for the dedication and sacrifice that it took to write, record, and release Purple. Thank you, whoever you are that considered us for the nomination.” – John Baizley

Baroness released Purple, the band’s fourth album and the collection that now boasts the Grammy-nominated song “Shock Me,” in December of 2015 via their own label, Abraxan Hymns. Produced by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev).

The band is in the midst of an Australian tour, playing tonight at The Triffid in Brisbane. John Baizley was also recently confirmed as the curator of Roadburn Festival 2017.

Tour dates:

December 8 Brisbane, Australia The Triffid
December 9 St. Kilda, Australia The Prince Bandroom
December 10 Meredith, Australia Meredith Music Festival
December 12 Adelaide, Australia The Gov
December 13 Perth, Australia Amplifier Bar
April 21 Tilburg, Netherlands Roadburn Festival

Baroness is John Baizley (guitar/vocals), Pete Adams (guitar/vocals), Nick Jost (bass/keyboard) and Sebastian Thomson (drums).
