“Bannatyne” by sundayclub

sundayclub take their inspirations from numerous genres, including Metric, DayWave, The 1975, Clairo, beabadoobee, and Alvvays. Today, the duo, comprised Courtney Carmichael and Nikki St.Pierre shares their debut single, “Bannatyne,” the track is out today via Paper Bag Records — a love letter to the city that shaped their sound, Winnipeg Manitoba.

Bannatyne,” is accompanied by a self-directed music video, “Bannatyne” follows the perspective of a protagonist wandering from Bannatyne to Princess Street, exploring the lights and energy of Nuit Blanche in Winnipeg’s arts district, The Exchange. Like the song itself, the video captures a fleeting, intimate moment — a window into sundayclub’s internal world, full of wonder and soft nostalgia. The duo is promising an EP later this year.

On the track sundayclub shares, “Bannatyne explores the complex feelings of a burgeoning relationship in and amidst a colourful urban landscape. The song captures a renaissance of freedom, awe, and vulnerability in one’s self and surroundings. Leaning into a stripped-down and playful bedroom pop sound, sundayclub’s debut single celebrates the city that inspired them.”
