Andrew Jim Gannon shares his new single “As The Years Roll Back”. The artist who was formally known as On Man, new single shows shows the artists using his voice for the first time, mixing his producer background with a new take on introspective pop.

On the track, Gannon said “I kept circling the idea of the artist as confessor: shame, self-presentation, truth told a bit wonky; all wrapped up in a kind of performance. Those ideas were in the air while I was writing. But the song itself came out of a fairly miserable stretch where the act of being this middle-aged man earnestly writing down these big feelings and turning them into a song felt absurd. Leaning into that though, taking the piss out of myself and letting that silliness sit there, strangely made the big feelings feel more real and honest.”

On the video, he added “The clumsy red gloves in the video have become this odd stand-in for me in my visuals: protective, a bit ridiculous, half-hidden, a kind of mask. The dog didn’t know what to make of them at first, but that shift from hesitation to affection felt true to the song’s world and gave the video its tenderness. We were good friends by the end.”

Formerly know as On Man, Gannon released his debut album under this alias in 2022 via Houndstooth. Since then he has continued to work on production and also spent time evolving his voice.
