Francophile indie singer/songwriter April March announces the new album April March Meets Staplin, due May 5 via Velvetica Music with vinyl arriving on April 22. The album – a collaboration between March and the French duo Staplin, with lyrics in both French and English – is heralded by new track “Parti Avec le Soleil.”

April March became a singer and animator by gazing into Spanish Harlem drawing while harmonizing over the fire escape with her sister. She sang and wrote songs, opening for and recording alongside artists until she began making unique music of her own. The world was soon introduced to her at the movies via Quentin Tarantino, Gus Van Sant, Alexander Payne and Bertrand Tavernier, all of whom featured her on their soundtracks. Working alongside her for this album, the group Staplin includes artists Arno Van Colen and Norman Langolff. Staplin’s first album was released in 2020 to earning them acclaim in the soundtrack genre. Together, April March, Staplin and drummer Toby Dammit bring us to April March Meets Staplin

This new collection bears marks from all points of March’s wildly varied career, from the classic “Chick Habit” – featured in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof – to “Allons-y,” her recent collaboration with Olivia Jean. April March Meets Staplin could be accurately surmised as an amalgam of 60’s psychedelic rock, krautrock and yé-yé.  The album with debut May 5, 2023, with vinyl debut on April 22, 2023 as an official Record Store Day release.
