A Beacon School Streams ‘Cola’ LP

A Beacon School 'Cola'

A Beacon School AKA: Patrick J. Smith recently announced the reissue of his LP Cola under the name A Beacon School. He has shared the reissued LP in full on Hype Machine. Prior to this, he debuted the new tracks “Fade In Nylon” and “Glue.”

Patrick J. Smith on Cola

“Cola is a stream-of-consciousness record that was written and recorded from 2013-2017. It was built with no conceptual framework, no real game plan other than to do what felt emotionally satisfying. While the lyrics aren’t terribly confessional, the album is extremely personal. There are probably overarching themes I can’t see just yet, but for now all I can say is that this album is a surrender to impulse, like a sugary drink that’s almost certainly not good for you, but tastes great at the time. With the release of the expanded vinyl edition, I’m so glad we were able to include three songs that weren’t ready for the initial release. They were written alongside all the other songs and are some of my favorites on the album.”
